Bitcoin and hundreds of other coins and blockchain asset tokens are traded on crypto exchanges like Poloniex and Bittrex. Poloniex is clearly the market leader for total Bitcoin traded, but growth in the popularity of crypto-currencies has at times made the trading breakdown as the site is at capacity.
Caution is advised when trading on exchanges as they are often thought to be manipulated by people with VERY large amounts of money and a "dump" of your coin by one of those large holders may mean the value you considered in hand was not real. Trading is not for the squeamish or done with funds you need for basic needs.
That said, despite trading against programmed bots and big money experienced chart readers - many coins are now finding REAL business connections and their value is simply increasing by the day and by the deal. There may not be an end in sight in the short term. More and more people are making way more trading their Bitcoin for other coins - than ever before - you might be one of them.
Finally, make sure to be an informed trader - and perhaps put some of your Bitcoin into some of the NEW COINS that are coming out all the time. These investment opportunities are now called ICO's for Initial Coin Offerings. Once again, be cautious in your investments in new coins - some will turn out great, others will not.
